Overwhelming feelings of grief, helplessness, and rage can be emotionally, physically, and spiritually distressing. Depression, anxiety, mood changes, substance abuse, anger outbursts, and other uncharacteristic responses can result. Acute Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Unresolved grief or PTSD and trauma can create recurring disturbing memories of emotionally charged issues causing acute symptoms such as anxiety and fear, hopelessness, irritability, confusion, uncharacteristic outbursts of anger or difficulty concentrating. If any of these issues are interfering with your day to day life, it may be time to consider asking for help.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy may be an option to explore. EMDR has been shown to be especially effective in treating trauma and PTSD. My training in EMDR and complex trauma, as well as my personal experience with EMDR, has made me a strong advocate for the therapy.
